Customer Stories: 1962 Chevrolet Corvette

John Devereux's 1962 Chevrolet Corvette doesn't have a nickname yet, but Devereux is leaning toward "Ugly Betty". Devereux found his '62 'Vette off a NCRS bulletin board in 2019. The car was in good mechanical condition but the paint and interior needed some work.

Devereux has been working on mechanical work and restorations across the entire car. Mechanically, Devereux has replaced the rear cross-member that was suffering from some rust damage, the rear shocks, the rear bushings on the sway bar, the valve cover gaskets, the rear shackles, the turn signal mechanism, the soft-top clips, the driver's door latch mechanism, and the ignition switch. On the exterior of the car, Devereux has replaced the front parking light lenses, the rear brake lenses, and swapped all bulbs for new LED's. Heading to the trunk, Devereux has rplaced the trunk mat and the spare tire holder. On the interior of the car, Devereux is currently working on a carpet replacement and some weather stripping work. The original WonderBar radio, speaker, and original clock were all non-operational when Devereux purchased the car. The original radio was replaced with the Classic Car Stereo WonderBar version that includes FM, and Bluetooth additions.

The old speaker was replaced with a brand new Hertz Centro 6x9" dual dash mount stereo speaker and supplimented with the JBL 58-62 Corvette Speaker kick panel 6.5" speaker pair. The original clock was also updated with a quartz clock replica that Devereux purchased. These have been some of Devereux's favorite restorations and additions as he can now quickly glance at the time on the dash and listen to Spotify streaming from his phone straight to the updated car stereo. Devereux couldn't narrow down just one favorite memory with his car but says it's a tie between the first time he saw it being backed out of the car carrier, and any time he's cruising with the top down and the music playing this past summer.
