JL Audio 8W3v3 8" 4-ohm Subwoofer
The 8W3v3-4 is the 4 Ohm version of JL Audio's 8" subwoofer model and falls under the W3 series line that features an improvement in construction materials over both the W0 and W1 series with a Mineral-filled polypropylene cone with a rubber surround. If you're looking for a subwoofer that hits hard and sounds good, search no further than JL Audio's W3 series line of subwoofers.
Although it measures in at 8", 8W3v3-4 is a true subwoofer, through-and-through. It employs the same technologies as its larger brethren in the W3 series to deliver the hard-hitting bass and durability JL Audio is known for.
The 8W3v3-4 model comes in a single, 4 Ohm voice coil. We recommend powering the 8W3v3-4 with a 250 watt JL Audio amplifier. If you are only running 1 subwoofer, be sure to look at the amplifier output at 4 ohms, not just the number that the amp is rated at when completing your setup.
The 8W1v3-4 8" subwoofer is optimized to operate in a tiny 0.30 cubic feet (8.5 liter) sealed enclosure, or a 0.35 cubic feet (9.9 liter) ported enclosure.
JL Audio JD500/1 500W Mono Amplifier
The JL Audio JD500/1D delivers raw JL power in a compact, efficient, Class D amplifier. The 500 watt monoblack amplifier is perfect for powering your 1 or 2 subwoofers and is stable down to 2 ohms. You get 500 watts of power at 2 ohms, 350 watts RMS at 3 ohms, and 250W RMS at 4 ohms. The JD 500/1 uses JL's NexD switching technology for maximum efficiency and minimal distortion. These JD amplifers now feature an LED clipping indicator which allows you to set the gain perfectly without a clipped input or output signal. You will know exactly where your head unit clips to eliminiate input distoration. In addition, the LED clipping indicator allows you to set the gain to the perfect level so you do not get a clipped signal on the output. Together, this ensures maximum life out of your subwoofer(s) by eliminating harmful distortion, the number one reason why subwoofers blow.
The JD500/1 has a 12dB/octave low pass filter and variable frequency selection between 50-500hz. The JD500/1 accepts both high and low level inputs allowing you to use RCA cables or speaker level inputs.
If you need to power your subwoofers, you are looking for a JL amplifier, but you are on a budget, the JD500/1 is the perfect amp to give you 500 watts of output at 2 ohms. There's nothing like JL Audio amplifiers and the JD lives up to the repuation while maintaining an affordable price point.
