The JL Audio 12W0v3-4 is the gold standard for affordable performance and reliability in a 12 inch subwoofer.

300 Watts RMS

The JL Audio 12W0v3-4 has a single, 4 ohm voice coil and handles 300 watts of RMS power. The 300 watts of RMS power handling is higher or at least comparable to most entry level subwoofers. The difference with the 12W0v3-4 is the reliablilty.

Enclosures

The 12W0v3-4 will work in both sealed and ported enclosures. If you opt for a sealed enclosure, you want 1.375 cu. ft. of volume. If you want boomier bass and a ported enclosure, the 12W0v3-4 works best with 1.75 cu. ft.

Single 4 Ohm Voice Coil

The JL Audio 12W0v3-4 is only offered in a 4 Ohm, single voice coil configuration. With 300 watts RMS, this means you likely want a "500 watt" amplifier to power a single subwoofer and a 500-600 watt amplifier to power a pair of subwoofers.

We like the following amps to power a single 12W0v3-4:

If you are powering a pair of 12W0v3-4 subwoofers, we reocmmend the same amplifiers, the difference will be that with 2 subwoofers, you wire them in parallel to a 2 ohm load. This is more efficient and you get more power out of the amplifier at 2 ohms than 4 ohms. So, the same amp can run either 1 or 2 12W0v3-4 subwoofers.
